VJ Sunny won Bigg Boss Telugu 5 on 19 December 2021, and he is the last champion of this show to collect the advertised prize whole: nobody took a briefcase that night, so the ₹50 lakh in cash went out undivided. Nineteen contestants went in on 5 September 2021, 13 were voted out over 105 days on Star Maa, one left on medical advice, and five were still inside at the finale. How Bigg Boss Telugu 5 voting, nominations and evictions worked

A weekly cycle that ran for fifteen weeks without missing a beat: housemates nominated each other, the house picked a captain, the public voted, and somebody left on the Sunday. Fourteen of those Sundays produced an exit, and the fifteenth produced a winner.

Nominations

Housemates nominated each other for eviction at the start of each week, and the lists ran wide — six names in week one, nine in week five, and in the last month every housemate except the captain. That is the arithmetic of a house that never gained a wild card: with nineteen at the start and eight left by the end of November, a nomination round eventually covered nearly everybody in the building. That comes to 277 nominations in 15 weeks, 31 of them against RJ Kajal. Every Season 5 nomination, and who made it, is on record.

House Captain and immunity

One housemate held the captaincy each week, won through a task, and it bought exemption from that week's nominations — which in a season with no other safety net was the only guaranteed way through a Sunday. Maanas Nagulapalli held it in the last month, and Shanmukh Jaswanth held it in the week Anchor Ravi went out, which is why the runner-up's name is missing from that week's nomination list.

The public vote

Nominees went to a public vote, which ran through the Disney+ Hotstar app — the service now called JioHotstar — with missed-call numbers reported as a second route. The nominee with the fewest votes left in the Sunday episode. No vote totals were published at any point in the season, for any eviction or for the finale. Evictions, the free pass and the Ticket to Finale

Thirteen housemates were voted out and one left without a vote: Jaswanth Padala had been playing through vertigo and went on medical advice on day 70. Two mechanics broke the routine at the end. Sreerama Chandra won the Ticket to Finale task, beating Maanas Nagulapalli in the final round, and became the first housemate confirmed into the top five. And VJ Sunny earned an eviction-free pass by winning tasks — a one-off power to pull a nominee out of the danger zone, and the loudest argument the season's audience had with itself.

Siri Hanmanth walked in first and finished fifth; Anchor Ravi walked in last and was the season's biggest name until the week he went out.
No wild cards: Nobody was added after launch night and nobody who left came back, so Season 5 ran its whole 105 days on the cast it started with. Wild-card entries were rumoured through the autumn and none was ever confirmed. Season 6 did the same the following year; Season 7 and Season 8 both brought a batch in on day 35.
Three months late: The season was scheduled for June 2021 and pushed back by the second wave of the pandemic, which is why it launched in September and finished four days before Christmas. Every season since has kept that September start.

What defined Bigg Boss Telugu 5

The last full ₹50 lakh

No finalist accepted a briefcase in this finale, so the advertised pool was paid out whole and VJ Sunny left with ₹50 lakh in cash, a bike, and a plot reported at ₹25 lakh. Every Telugu season since has been decided differently: Season 6's runner-up took ₹40 lakh off the top, Season 7's cost the winner ₹15 lakh, and Season 8 started the pool at zero and made the house build it. Fourteen weeks, fourteen exits, no twists in the calendar

One housemate left on each of the season's first fourteen Sundays and the fifteenth was the finale. No double eviction, no mid-week exit, no week skipped, nobody brought in late and nobody brought back. That is why the chart above reads as a staircase rather than a set of steps of different heights, and it is the clearest way this season differs from the four that followed it.

Anchor Ravi's eviction, three weeks from the end

Ravi went in as the best-known face in the cast, played twelve weeks without a serious row with anybody, and went out on day 84 in the result the reporting that weekend called a shock from every direction. Priyanka Singh and RJ Kajal were in the danger zone with him and both survived him; neither made the top five either. His exit is the reason the final five ended up being two YouTubers, a singer, an actor and a serial actress rather than the anchor everyone had pencilled in.

Were Bigg Boss Telugu 5 vote counts published?

No. Not for a single eviction and not for the finale — the show named the housemate leaving and nothing else, which is the same practice every Telugu season has followed. Priyanka Singh's thirteen weeks are worth noting against that silence: she was the second trans woman to play the Telugu house, after Tamanna Simhadri in Season 3, and she reached the last seven on a public vote nobody ever saw a number from.
