Bigg Boss Telugu 10 premiere date: what’s announced, and what isn’t

Bigg Boss Telugu 10 premieres on Sunday, 6 September 2026, at 7 pm on Star Maa. Star Maa announced it on 29 August in its grand-launch promo — the date is in the video’s title and repeated in its caption, “only on Star Maa”, with streaming on JioHotstar. That is the channel itself saying the day, so it is a fact here, not an estimate.

Nagarjuna Akkineni is back to host, it runs on Star Maa with streaming on JioHotstar, and the season’s theme is Dasavatharam. All of that was settled already. Now the date is too.

When does Bigg Boss Telugu 10 start?

Sunday, 6 September 2026, at 7 pm. The announcement came from Star Maa’s own YouTube channel on the morning of 29 August, in a promo titled “Bigg Boss Telugu 10 | Grand Launch on Sep 6th at 7 PM”, with the same date and time repeated in the caption. Two uploads went out half an hour apart; the shorter one carries the season’s Dasavatharam tag. Before that the closest thing to a date was JioStar, which owns the channel, saying its six Bigg Boss editions across India roll out from September 2026 — a month, covering six shows at once.

It fits the pattern on every count. Bigg Boss Telugu has started in September every year since 2020, and this makes it seven seasons running. Every season so far, all nine of them, has premiered on a Sunday; Season 10 makes ten. And launch night starts earlier in the evening than the rest of the week does — 7 pm held for Seasons 7, 8 and 9, and holds again. The show timings page has that slot history.

Season 9 premiered on 7 September 2025 and ran to a December finale. Season 10 starts a day earlier in the calendar. How long it runs, and when the finale falls, is not announced, and you won’t find a projected finale date here for the same reason you never found a projected premiere.

One thing the date does not change: the pre-show is still running. Agnipariksha Season 2 has been picking the commoner contestants since 15 August, at 10 pm nightly on Star Maa, and now has a launch to work toward. The Agnipariksha voting page follows it day by day.

Who is hosting Bigg Boss Telugu 10, and on which channel?

Nagarjuna Akkineni, for the eighth season running. He took over at Season 3 in 2019 and hasn’t missed one since, which makes him the show’s longest-serving host by a distance. Jr NTR fronted Season 1 and Nani did Season 2. If you’ve seen the Season 10 promo doing the rounds, that’s him in it.

On television it’s Star Maa, the channel that has carried every season, so wherever you watched Season 9 is where you’ll be watching this one. Streaming is JioHotstar. The tenth season’s theme is Dasavatharam, the ten avatars, picked for the number, and the line that came with the promo was “not a challenge in the game, the game itself is the challenge”.

Nothing about the format changes with the branding. You get a house, a season of tasks and nominations, a weekly eviction, and a finale around the end of the year if this run goes the length Season 9 did. For the shape of that cycle, how nominations have run in past seasons has all nine on record.

One distinction worth keeping straight while you watch: the host isn’t the voice. Nagarjuna fronts the weekend episodes. Bigg Boss, the voice that runs the house on the other five days, has never been credited by the show, and Telugu media doesn’t agree on whose voice it is.

Who owns Bigg Boss Telugu?

Three different companies, depending on what you mean by owns. It’s a fair question to get tangled in, because the answer you want depends on what you’re actually asking.

The format is Big Brother, a Dutch show developed by John de Mol Jr. and adapted all over the world. Bigg Boss is India’s version of it. Those rights sit with Banijay, the French-owned production group, which completed its takeover of Endemol Shine Group in July 2020 and lists Big Brother among the formats it holds.

The production is Endemol Shine India, the studio behind Bigg Boss across its Indian editions. Banijay owned 51% of it, bought the other 49% in July 2023, and now controls it outright.

The channel is Star Maa, and Star Maa belongs to JioStar, the company formed in November 2024 when Reliance’s Viacom18 merged with Disney’s Star India in an $8.5 billion deal. Reliance holds the majority, Disney the rest.

Does the distinction matter to you? It does if you’re waiting on news, because announcements come from that last one. Star Maa and JioStar decide when your season starts and who walks into the house, not the format owner, and anything they haven’t published isn’t announced however many websites are carrying it.

Where to watch Bigg Boss Telugu 10

Two places, same as recent seasons, and which one you want depends on how closely you follow it. Star Maa carries the daily television episode. JioHotstar carries the same episodes for streaming, plus a round-the-clock feed from the house while the season is running. Why is Bigg Boss removed from Hotstar?

Nothing got removed. The app itself changed: in February 2025, JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar were folded into one service called JioHotstar, and Bigg Boss Telugu simply carried on there. Two platforms became one. It wasn’t a rename.

So when a 2023 guide tells you to watch or vote “on Hotstar”, it’s pointing at a name that no longer exists on your app store. Install JioHotstar, sign in and you’re at the same show in its current home. That’s also why coverage up to Season 8 says Disney+ Hotstar while Season 9 onwards says JioHotstar — same switchover, showing its date.

Where is the Bigg Boss house?

A film-studio set in Hyderabad, not an actual bungalow you can drive past. The house sits inside Annapurna Studios in Jubilee Hills — the show’s home for years now — and gets rebuilt with a fresh look each season. It’s a working set with cameras in the walls, so there’s nothing to visit even if you find the gate.

Season 10 is where the reports split, and here the attribution is the story. V6 Velugu reported in mid-July 2026 that the new set was coming up at Annapurna, business as usual. A year before that, Siasat had reported a permanent facility planned near Tukkuguda on the city’s outskirts, meant to take over from Season 10. Different addresses, and neither is an official Star Maa or JioStar announcement. What else Season 10 hasn’t announced

More than has been. Here’s where we are, and what we’ll be updating as it lands:

• The cast. All sixteen, and the Season 10 contestants page has every one of them with a photograph — ten celebrities and six from Agnipariksha.
• Voting specifics. The method itself carries over — in-app voting on JioHotstar plus official missed-call numbers, one app vote per account per day. What’s pending is when the first voting window opens and the Season 10 numbers themselves.
• The schedule. Launch night is 7 pm on Sunday 6 September. The weekday and weekend slots after it aren’t announced.
• The commoners. A second season of the Agnipariksha pre-show is picking the non-celebrity contestants. It has been on air since 15 August 2026, and the top-15 line-up is on our Agnipariksha page.

The pre-show went on air three weeks before the season it feeds into had a date: it premiered 15 August and runs at 10 pm every day on Star Maa, streaming on JioHotstar.
