Premiere & timing
Bigg Boss Telugu 10 premiere date: what’s announced, and what isn’t
No premiere date has been announced. JioStar has said September 2026 for its six Bigg Boss editions. Here’s what that does and doesn’t tell you, plus the host, the channel and who actually owns the show.
There is no announced premiere date for Bigg Boss Telugu 10. The closest thing to one came from JioStar, which owns the channel: its six Bigg Boss editions across India are launching from September 2026. That is a month, covering six shows at once, so it tells you the season is close and nothing at all about which day the Telugu one lands on.
Nagarjuna Akkineni is back to host, it runs on Star Maa with streaming on JioHotstar, and the season’s theme is Dasavatharam. Those are settled. The date isn’t.
When does Bigg Boss Telugu 10 start?
If you’re planning around it, September is the reasonable expectation, and for once that isn’t just fan arithmetic. JioStar’s own announcement says the Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Bangla editions roll out pan-India from September 2026, across its television network and JioHotstar. That’s the company that owns Star Maa, saying the month out loud.
What it doesn’t tell you is which day Telugu starts, or whether Telugu goes early or late in that run of six. Six editions launching “from September” could mean the first week or the last.
History narrows it a little. Bigg Boss Telugu has started in September every year since 2020, six seasons running. Go back further and the habit disappears: Season 1 began in July 2017, Season 2 in June 2018, Season 3 in July 2019. So September is a six-year pattern rather than a rule of the show, and it’s worth being precise about which of those you’re leaning on.
One more thing the record gives you. Every Bigg Boss Telugu season so far, all nine of them, has premiered on a Sunday. Launch night also starts earlier in the evening than the rest of the week does, which the show timings page goes into.
You will find specific dates on other sites. Some are confident about a particular Sunday in September. Follow any of them back and you land on someone’s expectation rather than an announcement, so we’re leaving them where we found them. A date on this page will mean the channel published it.
Who is hosting Bigg Boss Telugu 10, and on which channel?
Nagarjuna Akkineni, for the eighth season running. He took over at Season 3 in 2019 and hasn’t missed one since, which makes him the show’s longest-serving host by a distance. Jr NTR fronted Season 1 and Nani did Season 2. If you’ve seen the Season 10 promo doing the rounds, that’s him in it.
On television it’s Star Maa, the channel that has carried every season, so wherever you watched Season 9 is where you’ll be watching this one. Streaming is JioHotstar. The tenth season’s theme is Dasavatharam, the ten avatars, picked for the number, and the line that came with the promo was “not a challenge in the game, the game itself is the challenge”.
Nothing about the format changes with the branding. You get a house, a season of tasks and nominations, a weekly eviction, and a finale around the end of the year if this run goes the length Season 9 did.
One distinction worth keeping straight while you watch: the host isn’t the voice. Nagarjuna fronts the weekend episodes. Bigg Boss, the voice that runs the house on the other five days, has never been credited by the show, and Telugu media doesn’t agree on whose voice it is.
Who owns Bigg Boss Telugu?
Three different companies, depending on what you mean by owns. It’s a fair question to get tangled in, because the answer you want depends on what you’re actually asking.
The format is Big Brother, a Dutch show developed by John de Mol Jr. and adapted all over the world. Bigg Boss is India’s version of it. Those rights sit with Banijay, the French-owned production group, which completed its takeover of Endemol Shine Group in July 2020 and lists Big Brother among the formats it holds.
The production is Endemol Shine India, the studio behind Bigg Boss across its Indian editions. Banijay owned 51% of it, bought the other 49% in July 2023, and now controls it outright.
The channel is Star Maa, and Star Maa belongs to JioStar, the company formed in November 2024 when Reliance’s Viacom18 merged with Disney’s Star India in an $8.5 billion deal. Reliance holds the majority, Disney the rest.
Does the distinction matter to you? It does if you’re waiting on news, because announcements come from that last one. Star Maa and JioStar decide when your season starts and who walks into the house, not the format owner, and anything they haven’t published isn’t announced however many websites are carrying it.
Where to watch Bigg Boss Telugu 10
Two places, same as recent seasons, and which one you want depends on how closely you follow it. Star Maa carries the daily television episode. JioHotstar carries the same episodes for streaming, plus a round-the-clock feed from the house while the season is running. The official vote ran inside the JioHotstar app last season, and the Bigg Boss Telugu voting guide covers that method and what Season 10 hasn’t confirmed about it.
One naming thing trips people up when you read older guides. Coverage up to Season 8 says Disney+ Hotstar and Season 9 onwards says JioHotstar, and that wasn’t a rename. In February 2025 JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar were brought together into a single service, so the app those older articles point you to isn’t sitting there under its old name.
Want the actual air times? Weekdays, weekends and launch night, season by season, are on the show timings page. Season 10’s slot hasn’t been announced either.
What else Season 10 hasn’t announced
More than has been. Here’s where we are, and what we’ll be updating as it lands:
- The cast. Not one name. Twelve are circulating, and the Season 10 contestants page traces each back to the list it came from and says which ones we’d take seriously.
- The voting method. Nothing published about how you’ll vote, how many votes you’ll get, or whether missed-call voting returns.
- The schedule. No weekday slot, no weekend slot, no premiere time.
- The commoners. A second season of the Agnipariksha pre-show is picking the non-celebrity contestants, and no shortlist has been published.
Curious how the commoners actually get in? That’s the one part of Season 10 with something to follow before the premiere. Agnipariksha produced Season 9’s winner on its first attempt, and applications for Season 2 closed back in June. Odder still, the pre-show has firmer dates than the season it feeds into, because JioStar’s audition terms carry a tentative on-air window for it. The rounds, the audience vote and where it all stands today are on the Bigg Boss Telugu Agnipariksha 2 page.
What happens to this page when the date lands
The date goes to the top, with the source next to it, and everything above stops being an expectation. That’s the only edit that matters here. Until Star Maa says a day, this page will keep telling you that nobody has.
Waiting it out? The Season 9 archive walks through how last season actually played out, and the winners list covers all nine seasons and what each winner took home. And when it does start, the Bigg Boss Telugu Season 10 voting page carries the week — nominees, the vote and our fan poll.
