Question

How can I participate in Bigg Boss Telugu?

There are two ways into the Bigg Boss Telugu house and only one of them takes applications. What JioStar's Season 10 audition terms ask for, and what closed on 21 June.

There are two doors into that house and only one of them has a form attached. The one you can use is Agnipariksha, the audition process JioStar runs to pick the commoner contestants: you register on the official website, upload a short video about yourself, and if the panel likes you, several rounds follow. The other door is casting, which happens to people rather than being applied for.

The part you need first, before anything below is useful: for Season 10, the documented application window closed on 21 June 2026. So this page won’t get you into this season’s house, unless JioStar reopens entries and says so. What it will do is set out exactly what the process asks for, which is worth knowing well before the next window opens rather than during it.

Can a normal person get into Bigg Boss Telugu?

Yes, and lately that route has produced more than a token entry or two. Bigg Boss Telugu introduced the Agnipariksha pre-show in Season 9 to select commoners. Six of the fifteen housemates who walked in on launch night came through it, and a seventh, Divya Nikitha, entered later as a wild card from the same pre-show.

Then one of the six won. Kalyan Padala took the Season 9 trophy, the first champion to come through the Agnipariksha route, and another commoner, Demon Pavan, finished third in the same finale. So the honest answer to whether an ordinary applicant ever really gets in is that last season one of them walked out with the title.

What the audition terms ask of you

JioStar’s Season 10 audition document sets four eligibility conditions, and they’re short enough to check yourself:

  • You had to be 18 or older as on 10 June 2026.
  • You must be an Indian citizen and a resident of India, and the general rules go further: resident during the audition period and for the duration of the programme.
  • You must be able to speak Telugu fluently. The clause is about speaking, and asks nothing about reading or writing it.
  • Plus whatever else the terms specify elsewhere in the document.

Is there an upper age limit anywhere in that clause? No, it sets a floor and stops there, which is worth knowing if you’d assumed the house wanted people in their twenties. One exclusion is worth flagging, though: employees of JioStar, the production house, the advertising agency, any appointed vendor, the main sponsors, and their immediate families can’t enter.

The residency clause does the quiet filtering here. An NRI fan can watch the show from the USA easily enough, but applying needs you living in India through the audition period and the season itself.

You also pay your own way. The terms put all travel, accommodation and other costs on the participant, and say the company won’t entertain requests about logistics.

How the application itself works

The digital round runs entirely on JioStar’s Bigg Boss Telugu website. You register with a valid Indian mobile number and an email address, verify an OTP, and fill in a form that wants date of birth, address, education, languages, a short profile and a parent’s or spouse’s name.

One requirement there trips people up. The mobile number has to be registered in your own name. Use somebody else’s and the entry is automatically invalid.

Then the video, which is the actual audition:

  • One self-introduction video, recorded by you.
  • Cover your profile, what makes you different, and why you’d be right for the house. A special talent counts too.
  • Telugu or English.
  • 180 seconds maximum, 50 MB maximum, .mp4 or .mov.

Three minutes. That’s your entire Level 1 audition.

You get one shot per person. If the same number or email sends several entries, only the first counts and the rest are disqualified, and you can’t get around that by registering twice with different numbers. Worth being deliberate about the video, then, rather than firing off the first take.

Last thing, and it catches everyone: the confirmation message on screen after you submit is all you get. The terms say plainly that no confirmation SMS or email will be sent. Silence afterwards isn’t a rejection, and it isn’t proof your entry landed either. Screenshot the confirmation.

What happens after you send the video in

Five levels, each cutting the field: a panel reviews the video entries, then a video conference round, then group discussions in Hyderabad and elsewhere in Telangana, then personal interviews judged by a jury of former housemates, then tasks played out on air. The last two stages become a broadcast programme, and the audience votes. The Bigg Boss Agnipariksha voting page has the full funnel with the shortlist size after each round.

Does the whole ladder always run? No, and that’s the part the confident explainers skip. Every count in it can be changed at the company’s discretion, Level 2 can be dropped altogether, and the on-ground rounds may not happen at all. The terms say JioStar is under no obligation to tell prospective applicants either way.

The final call isn’t purely yours to swing as a viewer, either. The terms make the selection turn on the voting outcome and the jury’s evaluation, either or both, and misconduct during the Level 5 on-air stage can disqualify a participant even if they qualified through the voting.

How do celebrities get on Bigg Boss Telugu?

Not through any of this. The audition document is for commoner contestants, and it defines a separate category alongside them: people selected and finalised by the company from any jurisdiction worldwide, on whatever criteria it decides. That’s the wording of a casting decision, not an application route, and we haven’t found a published way to apply for it.

Which is the plain version of what you already suspected. The celebrity half of the house gets approached, and if that were happening to you, you’d know.

Applications are shut. What can you do now?

Watch JioStar, not us and not anyone else. The terms let the company extend or shorten the window at its own discretion and say any update gets posted on its Bigg Boss Telugu microsite, which applicants are expected to check themselves. If entries reopen, that’s where it will show up first.

In the meantime, be careful with your details. Any page promising to forward your entry, any “agent” who wants money to get you an audition, any form that isn’t on an official JioStar or Star Maa channel: none of that is the process the terms describe. The real one was a website, a phone number in your own name, and a three-minute video.

Participating as a viewer instead

If what you actually meant was taking part in the show rather than living in it, that’s the weekly vote, and it’s a different mechanism entirely. Our voting guide covers the official method and where it runs. Agnipariksha has its own audience vote, confirmed in the terms, though JioStar hasn’t published how you’ll cast it yet.

Our poll on the Bigg Boss Telugu voting page is ours, not the show’s. It changes nothing about who gets in or who goes home, which is the whole of official voting vs fan poll.

The short answer

Apply as a commoner through Agnipariksha when the window is open: 18 or over, Indian citizen and resident, fluent Telugu, three minutes of video on JioStar’s site. Season 10’s window closed on 21 June 2026, so the next real chance is the next cycle, announced by JioStar. Everything else is casting, and casting calls you.
