Which Bigg Boss season is worst in Telugu?

Season 6, the 2022 edition, is the only season with a real case against it. It is the one that fell below 10 on both of the nights everybody measures, and the one whose own host told the finale audience that the runner-up had drawn more votes than the man holding the trophy.

That is as close to an answer as this question gets, because nobody official ranks these seasons. Star Maa has never published season-by-season viewership, the show doesn’t release vote counts, and the ratings figures fans throw at each other come from trade reports that don’t always agree with one another. Here is what survives a check, and what doesn’t.

Which Bigg Boss Telugu season had the lowest ratings?

Season 6, and it isn’t close. Its premiere came in at 8.86 TVR and its finale at 8.17. Those are the only two single-digit figures in the show’s nine seasons. TVR is the television rating the channels and trade press quote, and for Bigg Boss Telugu it is usually a Hyderabad number rather than a national one, though the reports often don’t say so.

Two of those cells are blank on purpose. The season table most sites copy from lists Season 8’s finale at 8.86, which is the exact figure it also gives for Season 6’s premiere, and the citation attached to it is a Season 6 article. That is a copying error travelling from page to page, so we won’t repeat it. The Season 9 finale figure in the same table carries no citation at all.

Treat the rest of the column as approximate too. Depending on which report you read, Season 4’s premiere is 18.5 or 18.05 and its finale is 21.7 or 19.51, and Season 5’s launch is quoted as 17.7 in general viewing and 18 with HD added. What every version of the numbers agrees on is the shape: eight seasons in a band roughly between 13 and 19, and Season 6 sitting on its own, well below all of them.

Was Season 6 really that bad, or was it just the cricket?

A fair challenge, and the premiere figure deserves the asterisk. Season 6 launched on 4 September 2022, the same evening India played Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super Fours. Half of Telugu-speaking India had a reason to be watching something else, and a first episode losing an audience to that fixture proves very little about the season.

The finale proves more. It landed on 18 December, against nothing in particular, and came in lower still at 8.17. A season that opens against a cricket match can blame the cricket. A season that ends three and a half months later, below where it started, has run out of excuses. By then the coverage had stopped being polite about it: headlines were already calling it the worst season the show had produced before the finale had even aired.

Did the wrong person win Bigg Boss Telugu 6?

This is the part that matters most on a site about voting, and it is the strongest single argument for Season 6.

Late in that finale, Nagarjuna offered Shrihan a briefcase, starting at ₹25 lakh and climbing to ₹40 lakh, to step out of the contest. Shrihan took it and left. LV Revanth was then declared the winner with ₹10 lakh in cash, a quarter of what the man he beat walked out holding. Nagarjuna also told the audience that Shrihan had polled more votes than Revanth.

So the season ended with the title going to one person and the vote, by the show’s own account, going to another. No counts were published either way, then or since. Whatever you think of the briefcase as a format device, that is the one finale in nine where the audience vote and the result came apart in public. Which season had the worst voting controversy?

Season 6 is the season the vote lost. Season 2, in 2018, is the season the vote itself came under suspicion, and it is the other answer people give.

That year’s fan movement behind Kaushal Manda, the Kaushal Army, was reported to be organising votes at scale, with supporters describing WhatsApp instructions for creating extra email accounts and individuals claiming 50 to 100 accounts each. Star India’s response at the time was that its voting systems were hard to rig and were watched by independent auditors. Nothing was ever proven, Kaushal won the season, and he publicly asked his own fans to stop making fake accounts.

What about Season 8?

Season 8 has a claim of its own, and by one definition it is the better answer. It opened enormous, with a premiere reported at 18.9 TVR in Hyderabad and 5.9 billion viewing minutes in week one, and it paid the biggest cheque in the show’s history at ₹55 lakh. By October, Hyderabad ratings reports had it struggling to get past 4.

That is a steeper fall than Season 6 ever managed, because Season 6 never had the height to fall from. If your definition of worst is the season that lost the audience it started with, Season 8 wins the argument. If it is the season that never had one, it stays with Season 6.

Is Bigg Boss Telugu 9 a flop?

No, and the numbers are unusually clear about it. Season 9 opened at a reported 13.7, the second-lowest premiere the show has had, which is where the flop talk started. It then went the other way. By October 2025 it was rating 11.1, ahead of the Tamil edition at 5.61 and the Hindi one at 1.8, and behind only Malayalam at 12.1 across all the Indian versions running that autumn.

It also produced the result the show had been building towards for two seasons: Kalyan Padala, a commoner rather than a familiar face, took the trophy as the first champion to come through the Bigg Boss Agnipariksha voting route. The Season 9 recap has that finale in full.

Which Bigg Boss Telugu season was the best?

By the same figures, the top of the table is crowded. Season 4’s finale in 2020 and Season 7’s in 2023 both landed at 21.7, and Season 3’s finale in 2019 was reported at 18.29 with the Chiranjeevi hour alone at 22.4. Be careful with the “highest ever in the Indian franchise” line attached to all three of those. It has been claimed for a different season each time, which tells you how loosely it is being used. So which season is worst?

Season 6, if you want one name. Not because a rating settles it, but because it is the only season where the ratings, the coverage at the time and the show’s own finale all point the same way.
